Kapas Island, Terengganu

Kapas Island is a laid back tropical hideaway just a few miles from the mainland of Terengganu.The speedboat ferry service from the fishing village of Marang takes about 15 minutes to cover the 6km distance to the island.Kapas is the Malay word for cotton and refers to the pure white sandy beaches found here.All the beaches and accommodation are on the western side of the island facing the mainland. It is possible to take a short jungle trek over the low hill on the island to the eastern coast for a view of the sunrise.The turquoise seas hereabouts contain plenty of rocks, some patches of coral and a couple of shipwrecks. Snorkelling and diving are popular pursuits apart from during the monsoon season which runs from November to March.Other activities are swimming, windsurfing, kayaking, boating and fishing. Night fishing for squid (squid jigging) takes place during the months of April to September.

Rawa Island, Johor

Rawa Island is a coral island in Mersing District, Johor, Malaysia. Nearby islands include Harimau and Mensirip."Rawa" is the local term for white doves, which are abundant in the island. Rawa is a relatively small island. There are no proper roads, only a few walkways. One side of the island is a beach covered with white sand, while the other side has a rocky vertical cliff. The water is clear. There are many sea and land creatures such as fishes, squids, jellyfish, octopuses, Malayan sea eagles, and reptiles. Also sharks Blacktip reef sharks can be found feeding in the sea off rawa. Rawa's waters are home to an abundance of corals. There are two resorts on the island: Rawa Island Resort and Alang's Rawa.

Pulau Perhentian, Terengganu

Pulau Perhentian, meaning 'stopover island', is not to be missed. Situated 21km off the coast of Terengganu, it consists of the islands of Pulau Perhentian Besar and Pulau Perhentian Kecil. Covered by unspoilt jungle, windswept palms, powdery white beaches and surrounded by sapphire blue waters, Pulau Perhentian is a sanctuary for fishermen, migratory birds and of course, discerning holiday- makers. Located just off the edge of the Pulau Redang Marine Park, Perhentian's coral-fringed waters have excellent underwater seascapes for snorkelling and scuba diving. Arrangements can also be made for island cruises, and boats can be hired to go exploring for private bays and secluded coves. A trip to these tropical islands is also a must for those who enjoy windsurfing, sailing, canoeing and deep-sea fishing.
